At the risk of being boring with zero goals in open play against two mediocre sides if he hasn't learnt that we need a quality striker then heaven help us!

Re: What Bilic shoudl have learnt by now ...
Noble will probably not get dropped before the PL season starts. We all hope Nolan will be out and if that happens Bilic will probably want to go gradually on changes unless results are bad.

We've got plenty of games this year for rotation to happen and we need players like Obiang and Song as alternatives. Revolution isn't usually the way for PL managers unless they are like PDC at Sunderland....

The good thing is that this season will see some very good players having to settle for the bench. That is the way it should be.

The fact that Slave said that Payet being in the team would help Noble as he would give him an outlet, suggests to me he'll be starting.

Re: What BILIC should have learned about West Ham by now ...
I haven't seen Obiang play but I would expect him to be above Noble in the pecking order, otherwise why bother to buy an established Serie A player as back up. I appreciate that we need depth and we will obviously have to see how Obiang fares in the PL but I assume he was brought in with the expection that he would be in the first team.

I haven't been impressed with Noble for a while now, far to inconsistent and complacent and he needs a kick up the arse... perhaps being dropped will do him good. IMO Poyet will gradually move ahead of Noble... he certainly isn't the finished article yet but he has more natural ability and will improve with more game time and experience.

Noble may buck up and flourish under Bilic, I hope he does, but he needs to up his game.

Re: What BILIC should have learned about West Ham by now ...
You think he'll pick Poyet in front of Noble?

Also you assume Obiang is a starter, I don't, Slav has mentioned Noble numerous times when talking about the team.

Re: What BILIC should have learned about West Ham by now ...
Anyone know how long Obiang is out for? Will be very interesting to see who Bilic picks as his two DM on Thursday and v Arsenal.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Kouyate and Poyet (in Obiang's absence)... don't think that Noble has done himself any favours so far.

We'll see, won't we, but it's an opinion. And to be honest, you have never appeared the brightest light, so I won't get too het up that you think it's bollocks.

Re: What BILIC should have learned about West Ham by now ...
Eerie.....what a total load of bollocks. Kouyate will be the one who will struggle to adapt most!
The guy was our best midfielder last year by a country mile. Could you seeing either Nolan or Noble doing what he done on a regular basis last year?
Having them two pricks alongside him week in week out and doing their donkey work and covering their arses....oh and chipping in with quality goals like he did against Mancs and the Yids shows his value to the team.

Try and watch him regularly this season as he will be one of the first names on the team sheet. Quality player, different gear to the other two.

Re: What Bilic shoudl have learnt by now ...
Seems to me he's trying to get them to pass, pass and pass while trying above all to play a possession game. I guess the players aren't used to it and it'll take a little time. In the 2 games I've been at, a lot of the problem has come from strikers being guilty of very poor movement and making them selves available, along with midfielders not being quick enough to spot opportunities immediately when they open up and before they disappear.

That along with Zarate forgetting he has any team mates.

I hope so North, as I say I like the fact he has got good presence, and he gives his all so I'm certainly not slagging him off, just read things on here likening him to Yaya Toure, and for me he just hasn't got anywhere near that sort of footballing ability.

Eerie
My money would be on kouyate and noble starting the season on the two holding positions but tbf I've never heard or seen the new boy obiang
I like kouyate and yes passing is not his greatest strength but he's very quick and very powerful and gets in some great positions to nick goals if he could brush up on his finishing I think he could get into the 8-10 bracket of goal scoring midfielders

Re: What BILIC should have learned about West Ham by now ...
Before signing song/song type player, I would say kouyate is pivotal?

Re: What BILIC should have learned about West Ham by now ...
I'd say that Kayoute will be the one who will struggle to adapt the most. Decent player, in terms of effort and application, and obviously has presence, but I think people have been going massively overboard on him, ability wise. Not a good passer of the ball at all.

Re: What BILIC should have learned about West Ham by now ...
Mr gold on Twitter said we would be fielding our strongest team on Thursday...one of the better responses pointed out the fact that nolan, Jarvis and job should not make the starting 11 then...

Fair point.

Its all about opinions as always. I respect what you are saying but do not agree its all down to the midfielders but then again I am bias having played there a lot of my career back in the days when there were trams and steam trains :-). But you may be right and I am prepared to keep an open mind. We shall perhaps get an answer if we start playing without Noble and Kouyate now that we have other options.

Couldn't disagree more. You blame passing ability as a team yet don't single out the players who have the ball the most.
